2011….

Image

just over a year ago, how about what I liked last summer. I say summer, this is the UK, we don’t have summers any more. We’re all building arks at the moment, 40 days and 40 nights of rain….

17. PUT YOUR HANDS UP – Kylie Minogue

18. PULSE – Orchestral Manoevers In The Dark

19. WHAT A FEELING – Alex Gaudino/ Kelly Rowland

20. SAVE THE WORLD – Swedish House Mafia

Hmm a bit dance diva-ish, Kylie & Gaga missed some great singles opportunities with album tracks, as did OMD, who had what would easily have been 6 hits back in the 80’s on a great new album that nobody was aware of. If you like Dare (Gorillaz) Pulse is not unlike that, but just as good. Dionne Broomfield is very young, and Amy Winehouse’s god-daughter I think. She had a string of good singles last year, but hasn’t broken through. The Pierces are an American female duo, with a Coldplay interest (check them out, very 70’s Fleetwood Mac and a brilliant album). Coldplay. Everyone hates them. They’re SO wrong. The great poprock singles band of the last 10 years.
