It’s a Hey Jude! 50 years ago today The Beatles greatest single was released and sometime during the following chart week my dad came home from work at RAF Swinderby and told me The Beatles had gone to Number One. That sparked my interest in the pop charts, I discovered Alan Freeman’s Sunday Pick Of The Pops chart rundown, and from then on I became obsessed with music charts. I had been obsessed by pop music for at least 4 years already. Sometime later in 1968 I did my first personal chart, and a few more followed in 1969, but they weren’t weekly. By 1971 they WERE weekly, by 1972 I was doing 4 or 5 a week as I went chart mad. However, once I managed to buy the first published book of pop singles charts, which gave me access to information on the 60’s and early 70’s, I decided that the start point was Hey Jude, and retrospectively compiled charts based on what I liked at the time for all missing weeks – which was still more or less what I liked in the early/mid 70’s. So the “week-ending date for this chart (if I followed the UK singles chart) would be 1st Sept 1968, near enough as dammit 50 years since my charts “started”.
So Happy Anniversary To Me, and Happy 50th Beatles Hey Jude! Still an epic single which has charted in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 00’s in the UK charts and mine both, and now in the teenies too. It hit the top everytime in my charts cos I’m a bit of a fan. Aretha Franklin’s I Say A Little Prayer was also in the very first chart and is number 2 this week. Very appropriate, albeit for tragic reasons, and she adds another entry lower down, with another waiting in the wings.
Biggest climber is Calvin Harris & Sam Smith, up to a promising 6 – Calvin Harris’ 6th top 10 including 2 chart-toppers, and Sam’s 4th including one chart-topper with Naughty Boy. Keeping up with the kiddie oldies theme The Partridge Family TV theme, as featured in Ant-Man & The Wasp, becomes their 10th top, David Cassidy’s 16th including solo hits. Alan Walker gets a 4th top 40, Madonna’s Like A Prayer gives her a 60th birthday top 40, Pet Shop Boys original version of Eighth Wonder’s I’m Not Scared (aka Patsy Kensit) charts for the first time 30 years late, and Ariana Grande gets a second hit of the year, her 10th in all, including chart-topper Love Me Harder.

It’s the late, great Aretha on top, probably the greatest female vocalist of all-time, though I rate her huge fan Dusty just as much, and both are in my chart this week. It’s an Aretha invasion following her sad passing, led by her 1968 definitive version of I Say A Little Prayer, a song I loved as 10-year-old, and played to death on a various artists hits album in Singapore as an 11-year-old (my dad bought it), and which finally topped my charts in 2011. The Bacharach/David song is therefore justifiably back on top for a 2nd week just ahead of her brilliant version of Carole King’s You Make Me Feel (Like A Natural Woman) which both artists have charted before this century, as album track oldies, and which reaches a new peak of 3. Elsewhere, Spanish Harlem was a top 10 hit for me in 1971 when I was charting proper, Angel criminally never made my charts as it was strictly UK top 30 hits only in those days as a silly chart rule, Think has never charted (predating my charts) and Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves is back 33 years after going top 10 with Eurythmics.
Elsewhere Santigold gets her first top 10 since 2008’s Les Artistes, Cher rockets Abba into the 40, Stacey Musgraves gets a different Velvet Elvis song to Alex Winston’s 2013 chart-topper into the 40, Calvin & Sam enter, Sam Smith’s highest-charting track since Like I Can went top 10 2 years ago. Janet Jackson is back! It’s been 12 years since she last troubled my charts, 14 years since she got as high as 45, and 17 years since she last topped my chart with Someone To Call My Lover, a great under-rated single, the last of 5 number ones. Talking of old chart-toppers, The Beloved’s 1993 classic is back because it is selling on itunes, and so is Like A Prayer for Madonna, presumably in celebration of her 60th birthday. The end of that sentence just seems unreal and SO wrong.

Blonde and Bryn Christopher both get a first chart-topper, it’s only taken Bryn a decade! The Chainsmokers get a second top 10 of the year, meanwhile it’s struggling in the charts but loved on radio. Go figure! Santigold shoots into the 20, a song I’ve known for 43 years, the best moments in the film are the lesser-known tracks like this one. And Cher, all soft focus and scene stealing. Former chart-toppers Oh Wonder, Robyn and Alan Walker are all back, AU/RA gets a second entry.

It’s a first week on top for a solo Lee Hazelwood and his moving 1966 track about growing older (and he was actually quite young at the time), pushing Panic! off the top. He first charted with Nancy Sinatra with the naughty Did You Ever in 1971, and has topped my chart in between with more old duets with her, but never done it solo. That makes it one of the oldest new-to-me records to ever top my chart. That leaves a big climb for Kungs & Stargate, both returning to the top 10 after a break, and a big climb for Au/Ra & Camelphat after 10 weeks climbing slowly. Muse return to my top 10 for the first time in 6 years, as LeAnn Rimes makes my top 20 for the first time in 20 years!
Highest new entry is from The Vamps, their first ever in 5 years of minor chart pottering about, and 2 oldies debut following a feature in the new Antman & The Wasp movie – Dusty Springfield’s definitive cover of Spooky is back after hitting 15 3 years ago, while The Partridge Family and David Cassidy’s TV theme tune got a prime spot in the movie, and gladdened my nostalgic heart, and is in at 35 – it def would have charted 47 years ago if I’d thought to allow TV theme tunes into my charts. A huge jump for Chainsmokers, about to overtake their oldie Paris, and a new entry for Santigold giving her a decade of entries, albeit as Santogold back then.
Ciara’s been away for 9 years, but now extends her run to 13 years, which is hard to believe it’s been that long! Enjoying some old-stylee rhythms m’self, anything that isn’t blippety bloppety autotuned Tropical House-ish Urban-ish blatant-chart-aimed construction is such a relief! In the olden days (pre-streaming) the singles charts allowed all sorts of music in, bit of a genre-duoculture these days. Not that there arent great chart hits (there are) just a bit lacking in variety. Moan over. Ward Thomas return with tunefull country, Paloma Faith has dropped the songwriter Sia from her previously charted Warrior, and returns, Rod Stewart is back writing his own stuff again, thank goodness, and is rewarded with another chart entry 46 years since Maggie May failed to impress me much at the time (love it now). That leaves Candi Staton having a soulfunk comeback – apart from Radio 2 presenting, she hasn’t bothered me much since 1999 when she last charted, and her chart run extends to 42 years, and Young Hearts Run Free.

It’s a 4th week on top for Hey Look Ma, matching High Hopes’ run on top, and giving Panic! At The Disco 8 of the last 9 weeks at 1. Sheryl Crow gets her 2nd biggest track of her career, and Petula Clark gets into the top 10 for the first time since Cut Copy topped my chart. Au/Ra and Camelphat take 9 weeks to make my top 20 – about the same as it has in the UK charts to go top 40, ditto High Hopes which has just entered. Things are looking up!
Abba tracks have started selling on itunes again – but not the usual suspects! Thanks to Mamma Mia 2 some album tracks are charting on sales, which has given me a chance to chart them belatedly (I excluded album tracks back in the day to avoid an Abba takeover, as the idea of one act completely taking over a chart just struck me as ridiculous – even my own. If only I’d restricted it to 3…..). That means 1980’s Andante Andante is highest new entry at 23. 1976’s My Love My Life is a bit lower, and Angel Eyes returns in it’s own right for the first time ever – Voulez Vous was always the classic side.
Biggest climber is Hayden James, at 40, Gabrielle gets a 2nd chart entry of the year, and Chainsmokers join themselves in the chart with oldie Paris still up high, and newie Side Effects down the lower end.

It’s back up to 1 for a 3rd week on top for Hey Look Ma, giving Panic! At The Disco 7 of the last 8 weeks dominating my chart. Blonde get the highest new entry, and a second top 10 four years since the first one. Bryn Christopher gets a 3rd, a decade since his first 2, that’s patient! In at 10, it’s 8 years since Sheryl Crow last troubled my top 10, love the guitar work on the new track. Her previous top 10 was in 1997, though she’s had loads of chart entries in between and since and before, dating back to 1994 and her first debut hit and top 10 All I Wanna Do.
It at 15 with a new sound, much poppier than recent darker efforts, it’s Muse, back in the top 20 for the first time since 2012, and for the 10th time in total since debuting in 2000. Hard to believe it’s 18 years! Miles Kane is back with a very Glam Rock track. I mean, it totally references Ballroom Blitz, and sounds like a Barry Blue hook, and it would have sold well in 1973 as boys n girls loved that sound then. Prob not so much these days, but hey, great to have a new Glam Rock record for us oldies!
Big climbs for Freya Ridings, RAYE, Claptone, Blue October, Moodoid. Imagine Dragons join themselves in the chart, that run of singles is getting quite long! Jake Shears enters without his Scissor Sisters, not his first solo billing, but his first solo track some 14 years since his first Pink Floyd-cover chart-topping song in the band.

It’s new at 1 for 2003 chart-topper (in my charts at least, and nowhere else) Forever More, a slice of Moloko brilliance that was a very minor UK chart hit, outrageously. The video is fab too. Loved it for 15 years non-stop. Singer Roisin Murphy has had 4 solo hits in the years since, but it was great to end a band career on a high. Cher also last charted with a number one – I Walk Alone in 2014, and she’s back with Mamma Mia’s Fernando cover at the tail-end of the chart, giving her a full actual 47-year solo career in my charts, though really it’s 53 years as I Got You Babe was a huge kiddie fave back when I was 7 years old.
Yvonne Fair had her only hit, a Motown diva cover that had echoes of histrionics on a par with the equally brilliant Lorraine Ellison’s Stay With Me Baby and Jennifer Holliday’s And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going. Top 5 in 1976 for me, it started selling last week following a youtube video of a drag act “interrupting” a gay wedding with this song. Giving me a reason to finally rechart it. Loads of new actual songs this week too, highest of which is Hooverphonic at 8. It neither sucks nor blows, is melodically fab, with nice strings, for the Belgium band. Just behind is extended Moby getting his 4th top 10 in 25 years, 20 years since getting his first.
Kungs & Stargate are both back, together this time, 90’s flop Rollo Goes Camping, all Italian House-ey, is in at 31, and Kim Wilde gets the highest climber at 32 for her 3rd top 40 of the year, with Birthday. It sounded great in concert, as did Katy Perry’s Pendulum, the other week in Barcelona, also climbing. A good top 40 entry for RAYE, lower for Cheat Codes & Little Mix, while Italian SONOIO (not real name) part-time Nine-Inch-Nails touring member, takes time-out for some Goldfrapp-ish delight.

2 weeks on top for Hey Look Ma, and 6 weeks in a row for Panic! At The Disco. Still exciting, still fab. Lee Hazelwood gets me all slushy & beautifully melancholic at growing older, The Beach Boys new version gets Don’t Worry Baby a second top 10 run, and Rick Astley gets his 2nd top 10. The first one was Never Gonna Give You Up in 1987. A mere 31 years waiting…!
Meghan leaps into the 20, AC/DC return to my charts thanks to a sci-fi movie soundtrack – back after a gap of 28 years, oops! Thunderstruck, I am! Chic & Nile Rodgers extend the comeback chart entries, for a satisfying 40 years Dance Dance Dance-ing in my charts (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah!), while Chaka Khan returns and gets her a chart run of 44 years since Tell Me Something Good, with a bit of an assist from Stevie Wonder, brought Rufus & Chaka into my charts when I was sweet 16. The other golden oldie is Kim Wilde back with a 3rd Alien track, and a 37-year-run.

It’s Panic! At The Disco on top for the 5th week in a row – but a first week on top for Hey Look Ma, I Made It. Several acts have knocked themselves off my top spot, Beatles, John Lennon, Pet Shop Boys, Roy Wood, Glen Campbell, Abba to name six, but it’s not that common because records don’t tend to have long enough runs for follow-up singles to knock them off – though since I allowed album tracks into my chart about 15 years ago it’s become more common, but still rare.
Lee Hazelwood gets a first ever (Posthumous) top 10 solo, only been waiting 50 years or so, no rush. Kylie adds another top 10 to her massive list – her 6th of the year. That’s just greedy as Golden the track and album hit my charts hard. Penny Lane is also back in the 10 for The Beatles for the 4th time, Rick Astley adds to his top 20 stash, Years & Years outperform their current big single hit with the title track of the album, by quite some margin, and Meghan Trainor is the highest climber, ALL THE WAYS into the 40.
This last week I’ve been in Sitges and Barcelona in Spain, scorching hot & sunny, and I also got to see Katy Perry, and support Hailee Steinfeld in concert at the Palau Sant Jordi, a bit like Wembley Arena. Hailee was very good, and Katy was fab, a show in the style and ambition of a Madonna & a Kylie, with a touch of the Pet Shop Boys. We’re talking sitting on a flying saucer over my head, dancing with a rubber whale, giant puppets, basketball hoops and a brief tour of the solar system and Pluto. Can’t go wrong really! Most of the big hits were there, as were some album tracks from the very underperforming Witness. The encore track was Pendulum, followed by finale Fireworks, though the best-sounding tracks were the newer ones oddly enough, Swish Swish, Chained To The Rhythm, and a one-off-for-this-concert-only cover of Joan Osborne’s One Of Us 90’s smash. The music played in the intervals was mostly 80’s big hits, one of which got the whole audience (of mostly young Spanish, kids & parents, teens & 20’s and a sprinkling of gay older men) singing along: Take On Me has given a-ha a bit of immortality cos everyone knows it!
Anyway that explains the very low number of new entries, not heard much new music…

It’s four weeks on top for Panic! At The Disco, just holding themselves off the top as the fab Hey Look Ma, I Made It enters at 2, so that’s 3 hits in 2018 and 2 tracks to enter straight into the top 3. It’s unusual for acts who aren’t megastars to occupy the top 2 simultaneously in my chart – time they broke big I say! The last 4 weeker on top was VINAI in 2017, and they brings Chainsmokers Paris belatedly into my top 40, the remix having a bit more oomph than the hit version for me.
Holland-Dozier & Lamont finally get into my top 10 only a mere 46 years after they almost made it first time round. Back in the day, had producer writers billed themselves as modern acts do they would have been superstars: Holland-Dozier-Holland featuring The Four Tops, The Supremes for a start, among many others. Lenny Kravitz gets his first entry in 4 years at 22, not Low at all, and extends his run to 27 years, though that is peanuts compared to Paul McCartney.
Macca has his first new material for 3 years hot off a James Corden Liverpool boost, which also boosted Beatles tracks into the itunes charts, so in comes Blackbird for a second minor run and Penny Lane for its 4th run. Hey Jude topped the British charts when I discovered the Singles Chart Sunday run-down, so that’s where I started my chart as Chart Number One (retrospectively a few years later – my first actual personal chart was at the end of 1968), with Hey Jude topping my first chart, and thus giving Macca almost 50-years of new material. Surprisingly other acts in that first chart still active are several: Barry Gibb, Tom Jones, Brian Wilson, and it’s not unthinkable that Aretha Franklin might still do new stuff.
The late Lee Hazelwood has a first solo entry with an oldie about being an oldie, a track Ive just come across, lush and haunting, he’s had loads of entries with Nancy Sinatra dating back to 1971. Rick Astley replaces himself in the top 40 with his fab new disco track, 31 years and counting Rick is still Rolling. Trust me, not one music critic in 1987/88 would have bet a pound on Kylie & Rick being still a thing in the 2010’s. Me neither! Years & Years get a Mrs Brown boost, and enter with the new title album track, LeAnn Rimes has over 20 years of entries, joined with Stevie Nicks extending her solo billing to 37 years, or Mac-career to 42 years.

It’s 3 weeks on top for Panic! At The Disco still holding off Pet Shop Boys, who retaliate with 3 more entries from the Actually album, as Deaf Havana seem to have caused a bit of fan-base moaning by making a great pop single. How very dare they! Gorillaz get a 4th top 10, George Benson a 3rd (probably) and London Grammar a third.
Highest new entry is the very passionate Adore Delano at 15, holding off The Beach Boys jiggled up (but inferior) version of Don’t Worry Baby, a former chart-topper in the noughties at 20. Blossoms get a first top 20, Peaches enters at 33, her 4th chart appearance since her debut in 2002, Rex Orange County gets a 2nd chart entry by pairing with Randy Newman for his Toy Story charming classic, sweet song, Martin Garrix is back, RuPaul is also back some 25 years on from debuting, and Chainsmokers missed my chart with Paris (it sorta passed me by) but I heard it in a shop on saturday and decided I should have bought at least one version of it – VINAI remix as it happens, who topped my chart with Into The Fire.

It’s 2 weeks on top for Panic! At The Disco so exciting it’s kept off a new entry from Pet Shop Boys’ album version of their 1988 5-week chart-topper Heart. Pet Shop Boys Actually album deluxe version charted 3 months and I finally got around to re-acquainting myself with the first album of theirs I bought (and soundtracked a West Coast USA holiday in 1987), plus the bonus tracks I didn’t have or know. As I didn’t allow album tracks in those days (doh!) I’m now charting those tracks that missed out on 1987 chart action over the next couple of weeks. That means One More Chance, and a remix of What Have I Done this week.
All Saints rocket into the top 10, their 9th (including 2 chart-toppers in Rock Steady and Pure Shores), as Calvin Harris (6th top 10 including 2 chart-toppers in Under Control and Pray To God) and Dua Lipa (5th top 10 & 1 chart-topper in Hotter Than Hell) finally get a One Kiss top 10. Highest new entry is Deaf Havana at 11, a Norfolk Alternative band, while London Grammar and Florida Georgia Line add to their top 20’s. In at 26, gay scene dance remix anthem (still unreleased) from Alison Jiear (who I’ve seen twice) I Just Wanna f***in’ Dance, from the Jerry Springer Musical, finally enters belatedly. Finally The Beach Boys get the orchestral treatment – if one band didn’t need their back catalogue not messing around it with it’s them, Brian Wilson’s productions are already perfect. The early stuff less so, so I’ve allowed Fun Fun Fun to chart as it’s never charted before.

It’s a first week on top for Panic! At The Disco’s first chart-topper, I had High Hopes it would do well! Fab. If only tracks like this made the singles chart. No chance, Spotify would explode… Meanwhile highest new entry is Gorillaz with a bit of George Benson help in at 16. I always love the variety of acts they use/collaborate with, and George Benson first charted here in 1975, kick-starting a long run of mostly-jazz-disco entries for a decade or so. This is his first mention for well over 25 years…
Talking of 1975, Judy Collins A Little Night Music musical cover version of Send In The Clowns did well that year, and it’s finally back again as a song for Faultline and Lisa Hannigan, currently backdropping a horrible car advert, but showcasing this fab version. Kylie’s got another single – none of the ones I’d wanted as next choice, but it’s a goodie anyway, fits in with her 50th, and Kylie usually doesn’t pick my preferred album tracks.
Florida Georgia Line return solo, as their big collaboration drops out, in at 25, Sparks enter at 36 with the track they started their set with last Bank Holiday Monday when I finally saw them in concert. I’m not exaggerating when I say I instantly went mad on them in 1974, have admired them throughout their ongoing career, and loved the concert (I was near the front singing along to their recent stuff – not many others were!). Still got it, and I’ve waited a whopping 44 years to see them, and now a 44-year career span of new material. Not bad for a couple of one-time American art-glam-rockers.
All saints are back! 21 years chart-span on and off, and 2 years after their last top 10 – UK chart flop so I wasnt optimistic there’d be another release, but hooray there is. Rick Astley has a cover of the All Seeing I and Tony Christie 90’s cult-goodie for a new Brit movie. It’s soundalike but good. It’s 5 years since Celine Dion popped up in my charts, but a bit of Deadpool2 action is enough to convince me, giving her 28 years of chart action, while Gabrielle is also back after a 5-year gap, and a chart span of 25 years!

It’s a second week on top for Woodkid 6 years on from the last time, what a cracking track it still is, witness it’s use as backdrop to all manner of things without ever making the UK top 40. Panic! At The Disco get a second 2018 top 20, a second top 10 4 years on from Girl/Girl/Boy (or was it Boy/Boy/Girl? Gender fluid title…. 
) and 6 years of entries. High Hopes is exciting.
My latest car CD of new itunes tracks has a theme: strings dominate, headed by One Eskimo in at 9. I’m a sucker for strings, they give music gravitas when done right. Joan Baez’ classic folk oldie from 1971 is back in the top 20, along with Propaganda’s 1984 number 2, and Holland-Dozier’s 1972 top 20 – it’s chart run was cut chort back then as my charts were based solely on the UK top 30 singles chart and it only had a week or two in the UK chart (and mine). I was young….
London grammar return with a strings-laden haunting goodie, Rui Da Silva gets his second top 40 almost 2 decades late, Owl City is back with the best song ever to feature the state Montana in it’s title. Possibly the only one… I’m seeing Beck tonight, supported by Sparks, so Colors is a refreshing return to form, Johnny Marr is also back sounding quite Smiths-ey, his guitar still rings beautifully, and gives him nearly 35 years of chart entries.

It’s Abba’s 1979 glorious Chiquitita back on top for a 3rd week after seeing it in the Three Billboards movie (along with Joan Baez’s cover of The Band’s Dixie at 27, back after 47 years MIA, a former top 5). Hordes of oldies this week thanks to Deadpool and adverts. Like Woodkid’s 2012 chart-topper here, and former Buzzjack Song Contest winner, back in at 2 as it heads into the itunes chart thanks to an ad. Still sounds exciting, and that drum pattern has been borrowed a bit by ARCHIS at 9.
Cyprus’ Eurovision runner-up is up to 6, and Taylor Swift gets her first top 10 since Shake it Off 3 years ago. Highest new entry is the Backstreet Boys, shockingly in at 17 from nowhere, their first new track in 13 years, and the first top 20 since 2001’s The Call. They had 3 number ones in my charts, so I certainly did like them when they were on fire, less so on the dirge-y ballads.
Petula Clark’s 1966 fab track debuts, thanks to featuring on the itunes chart – I’m guessing it’s an advert, but don’t actually know why it was selling! Ben E. King is easier, the Royal wedding is the reason it’s selling. Back yet again for Stand By Me. Rui Da Silva hasn’t had a follow-up hit to his sole 2001 chart entry Touch Me – better 17 years late than never! Cher is in Deadpool 2 (the song that is) and bounces back in almost 30 years on, Air Supply 38 years on from topping my chart (also Deadpool), and also Pat Benatar 1986-era top 10.
Gilbert O’Sullivan is back after a decade away from my charts (with new stuff), and extends his chart run to 48 years (phew!), while Pharrell has a piffling 12 years of charting – or 16 counting NERD. Jess Glynne is just a baby with the 4 years….

It’s 3 weeks on top for Built By Titan as Kylie reaches a new peak with Gente after 9 weeks on the chart, quite rare to be a grower that long. The Detroit Spinners get a first top 10 since 1980, and reach a new chart peak 42 years late, thanks to me seeing the new Avengers epic film again. William De Vaughan enters the top 10 again 44 years on since peaking at 8, and Post Precious rocket up to 10 from 39.
Highest new entry is the best Eurovision song (apart from poor unloved Finland), a Cyprus bop at 17, while Taylor Swift patches up with Katy Perry and is rewarded with her first top 20 track off the new album, in at 20 for Delicate. A classic 1984 track comes back, having originally peaked at 2 for Propaganda, thanks to being entered in the Buzzjack Song Contest, and Naughty Boy shoots up into the 30 for the 6th time as lead act, including his chart-topper La La La, and extends his chart run to 8 years.
Kodaline enter and extend their run to 5 years, some more Eurovision tracks dot around between 41 and 75 – but very much not including the awful clucking winner.

It’s a second week on top for Built By Titan, and fresh back from a bit of standing around in outdoor clubs in Gran Canaria (my big toe has been damaged, so not much more than weight-jiggling-leg-to-leg possible), and some newies and oldies played, my chart is still in World Record Store day mode. Foster The People almost get a second chart-topper, Kylie gets a 5th top 10 of the year, and Fleetwood Mac’s Rhiannon finally makes my top 10 40 years late from going top 20.
A huge 50-place climb for ARCHIS – I was hoping they would be The Archies, but no such luck – and a massive climb into the 20 for the fourth time for Ariana Grande, including her 2014 chart-topper with The Weeknd Love Me Harder. Highest new entry is an oldie – Rubberband Man featured prominently in the brilliant new Avengers movie, in the Guardians Of The Galaxy segment, a 1976 Detroit Spinners hit, which went top 10 for me that year, as the Spinners usually did, being as their brilliant producer/co-writer Thom Bell had a good decade of Philly/soul hits for a number of acts (Stylistics, Delfonics and more), many of them much-covered since.
Highest actual new track is Naughty Boy gone reggae with RAY BLK and Wyclef – ex of The Fugees, who had a chart-topper with afore-mentioned Thom Bell’s Ready Or Not, the old Delfonics hit. Wyclef has now had 22 years of chart entries, or 20 years solo. I do enjoy a good chart link. Gloria Gaynor’s old disco cover of the Clout-hit-cover of the ex-Argent songwriter Russ Ballard’s Substitute also sneaks in some 40 years late as well.
